چکیده
Background. Increased blood and plasma viscosity, hematocrit, fibrinogen, and activation of coagulation and leukocytes have been reported in patients with claudication; however, their associations with symptomatic and asymptomatic peripheral arterial disease have not been reported in an epidemiological study. Methods and Results. Blood and plasma viscosity, hematocrit, fibrinogen, urinary fibrinopeptide A, plasma leukocyte elastase, and uric acid were measured in a random sample of 1,581 men and women aged 55-74 years in Edinburgh, Scotland, and related to peripheral arterial stenosis (ankle-brachial systolic

Background: During extrinsic coagulation pathway, a complex is developed between factor VII, calcium and tissue factor (a cell membrane lipoprotein that is exposed after cell injury). Factor VII needs calcium and vitamin K for its biologic activation. Coronary artery disease can be induced by increased level and activity of the coagulation factors VII, VIII and IX. In postmenopausal period, est...
متن کاملThe Situation of New Risk Factors of Cardiovascular Disease in Urban Population of Isfahan
During recent years, many epidemiological studies on risk factors of cardiovascular disease (CVD) have been preformed among which are fibrinogen, activity of factor VII, lipoprotein (a), and hemocystein as new CVD risk factors. Through completed studies, it is found that in urban population of Isfahan more than one risk factor (hypertension, smoking, hypercholesterolemia, diabetes and obesity) ...
متن کاملP 65: Soluble CD18 as an Inflammation Reducing Agent in Parkinson\'s Disease
Parkinson's disease (PD) is a very common neurodegenerative disease among the elderly population. Current treatments for Parkinson’s disease are based on symptom therapy but not the underlying cause of the disease. This disorder is caused neuronal death which triggers the activation of resident glial cells. This situation leads to neuroinflammation in the central nervous system. Activated...
متن کاملInterindividual differences in radiation-induced apoptosis of peripheral blood leukocytes in normal individuals and breast cancer patients
Background: Quantification of radiation-induced apoptosis in peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) has been proposed as a possible screening test for cancer-prone individuals and also for the prediction of normal tissue responses after radiotherapy. Materials and Methods: The neutral version of the comet assay (single-cell gel electrophoresis) was used 24, 48, 72 hours after irradiation ...
